Our testimonies encourage
us to work for a more
peaceful & sustainable world
We don't have a fixed creed because we have found that the search for truth can lead us to new expressions of values as well as confirming existing ones. We call these values 'testimonies'. Today we focus on simplicity, peace, truth, equality, Earth & the environment and how they relate to one another.
Our testimonies encourage us to work for a more just, peaceful and sustainable world. It's not always easy to live this way, but as Quakers we try to encourage each other to keep trying.

Harvey Gillman, 1988:Margaret Fell (one of the founding Friends in 1660’s)
The Truth is one and the same always, and though ages and generations pass away, and one generation goes and another comes, yet the word and power and spirit of the living God endures for ever, and is the same and never changes.

Truth – Oaths and affirmation
Throughout their history Friends have refused to take oaths; and they underwent much hardship before provision was made by statute allowing them to affirm.
